I mainly think about title first,although if there's already prompt,I would just flow.
Ideas are already in head,so I write what ever comes to me.

There are times when I am reading the paper, or listening to music and a line will stand out at me, and I will use that as a spring board too
I can relate to all three of these examples given.
More often than not an idea will come to me, accompanied by a line.
Sometimes it’s an event that sparks the initial need to write something.
Sometimes it’s a title, though very rarely!

I usually get inspired by a single event, or thing that I see or experience, and I naturally start thinking of the metaphors that I can attach to that event. That eventuates into a poem. Overwhelming thoughts and feelings also often prompt me to write.
Usually a poem grows out of a word or a line that comes I to my . I don't think I've ever had a title that I write to.
