I'm not going to lie. I've been very busy and tired the latter half of the week so I don't have anything prepared.
As such, today's prompt is very simple: write about your perfect day. Think about the weather, your outfit, your meals. Where would you visit? Who would you want to spend time with, if anyone? Would your perfect day be in an entirely different universe? A fictional universe? Would you have different colour hair, eyes?
Some jumping off prompts:
Today, I...
I wake up and...
Nothing went wrong today because...
I can't wait to see what you come up with!
I'm going to cheat here and add a poem I wrote quite a while back inspired by the serenity of being in lockdown/isolation. I think it captures what you're talking about a little bit, but if it doesn't, your prompt is actually inspiring me to write at least two more new poems! For the time being, I might leave this one here?
One on Isolation
One day while I was working from home, I looked out my window
And watched a sparrow dart into a tree
Like a tennis ball being thrown into a bush.
The little creature rustled in between the leaves
And I remembered how long it had been since I wished I could fly.
Another day in early September, I walked down the street on which I live,
Smelling fresh wattle in the air, which told me spring was approaching.
I looked up to the sky and could not spot even a wisp of a cloud,
The weather was preparing itself for a more eventful future on the horizon,
I recalled the same optimism I felt for new beginnings this time last year.
I was doing my laundry one late, cold Friday night,
Snapping the washing machine door open before I threw my stale clothes in.
The eerily familiar scent of laundry detergent with a touch of tobacco hit me
And I was teleported to my former lover's studio apartment.
I stuck my head in the machine, trying to remember what he felt like while wearing his newly tumble-dried t-shirt.
I enjoyed a lovely date with my darling friend Emel today.
We sat on the dry, green grass of Fitzroy's Edinburgh Gardens and had a picnic
A mezze of food, coffee and kombucha laid out in front of us.
The air was warm, so we celebrated the glory of spring in the outfits of summer,
I don't even think we spent one whole minute discussing what to do after lockdown.
