I'm simply asking because back in my high school days,I also compare poetry to music.
I base my poems off music I listen too, which is why I get confused when someone ask me which poet inspire me.Well none, since,I wrote poems base on experiences.
Poetry influenced way I live base on expression.People have told me the way I speak is like a poet, which is why I talk the way I do.I also believe poetry influence uniqueness.Alot of people told me how unique I am and poetry does play a huge reason why I am that I am.Which is why I enjoy coming here,as there are poets that do understand this literary art.
Culture is social media.I like to think food services, retail and social media reflect society. While its awesome someone like Rupi Kaur and Gabbie Hannah can make monetize poetry in such insane level,do fear that upcoming poets will look and say,THIS IS GOLD STANDARD!!!!!!Poetry may have influence politics. As much as I don't like talking about politics,my hypothesis is that politics have raise more voices to speak out.
Encouraging,to say the least.
In conclusion, poetry has been more of an influence than I thought.Back in 2017,I was on a huge high on "Profit from Passion".And I thought that theres no way poetry can make me financial free.Mainly in terms of poetry being only source of income,I would like to say I'm partially right. However,I was wrong in thinking poetry didn't have influence since if we didn't,we wouldn't have Emily Dickenson,Robert Frost,Shakespeare,Allan Edgar Poe,Allen Ginsberg, and list goes on.
So,how has poetry influence way you live and how has it influence culture?
Great thread Bendy! And a very insightful reply as always @Ken Merchant
Poetry changed my life. I’ve never felt more secure as a person. know I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing! It’s a great feeling! Acting was fun while it lasted but I always had imposter syndrome holding me back.
