Welcome home!
At The Poetry Cove Forum, we are dedicated to bringing together poets from all over the world. We believe that poetry can be a powerful tool for connection and community, and we want you to have a place where you can explore your craft in an environment that is friendly, welcoming, and supportive.
We are committed to providing this space for you because we believe that everyone deserves a chance to express themselves creatively and share their work with others who share their interests.
We hope you will join us in creating an open-minded, accepting, and supportive community of people who can help each other grow as poets.
"The weight of the world is love."
"For the burden of life is love."
Howl by Allen Ginsberg
"For angry slays the foolish man,
And Jealousy kills the simple."
Job 5:2
"The Pets role is not to rhyme, not to enjamb or write lyrically not to capitalize, grammerize or even spell correctly. The Pets role is to capture humanity soul."
The Early Hours by Adam Gary
I really, really love this line From “Hello. Finish Your Will” by Derrick Brown
“That much love is an earthquake inside. // I have so much.“
The days run away like wild horses over the hills - Bukowski
I don't know if this line appears in one of his poems or its only the title of one of his books, but to me it is so beautiful.
Hey Rachel, good question. I had to think about it for a little while, and came up with the below (in order of preference):
1. "Water, water, everywhere, And all the boards did shrink; Water, water, everywhere, Nor any drop to drink." from "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", one of the most sinister poems I've ever read.
2. "Did he smile his work to see? / Did he who made the Lamb make thee?" from Blake's "The Tyger".
3. "I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness". Ginsberg's "Howl", which actually contains many great lines.
Also:
I send my soul through time and space
To greet you. You will understand.
Hmmm, I took the one less travelled by and that has made all the difference. Life mantra or what!?
Also Shall I compare thee to a summer's day. It just such a beautiful poem that it introduces which for me is a poster child of love and romance!
