So some of you might have seen I just got a puppy last week Monday. I’ve gone a whole week without being able to go for walks which has been a pain because I LOVE my walks! I bought a sling yesterday to put Harry in and am going to try it out today! (I can’t put him on the ground yet until he has had his second jab next week)
Anyway, if there’s anyone here that is also an avid Walker, is there anything you love particularly about it other than the usual?
Aside from the therapeutic side of things I love walking because it’s when I do my best thinking. So many lines of poetry have come from walks, so many plot points for my screenplays and fiction too! I also love exploring and I’m one of those people who can’t stay in one place for too long otherwise I’ll get grumpy.
So I ask again, why do you go on walks and what do you like best about them?
I used to walk so much and loved it. It was brilliant for both my mental and physical health, too. In Lockdown I went back to it slightly by buddy walking with friends but then life started to revert, I totally got out the habit and now I feel like there's never really the time. Since the husband took up hiking I keep thinking about starting carving out the time to do it again.
At the risk of being a total blasphemer, I love listening to music while walking alone. It blocks out the dog walkers (there are a LOT round our way) and the farm machinery and the film set and just allows me to enjoy the scenery.
