I apologise if I've missed a thread on a similar topic but I'm curious: What are some pop culture things that defined your childhood. By 'Things' I mean anything: music, books, toys, new stories.
For example, I'm a 90s girl and some key icons from my childhoos are: S Club 7, The Rugrats (and by extension, 'All Grown Up'), 'Drake And Josh', Polly Pocket, Furbies, B*Witched, Betty Spaghetty, Bang The Door dolls/accessories, Skydancers, the gooey aliens in an egg (the ones with the rumour that if you put them back to back, they'd have a baby).
What are some things that make you super nostalgic?
Will the real Slim Shady please stand up??? Along with rock music.
Movie theaters,very magical experiences.
Pokemon,gotta catch em all.
Game Boy Advance,Nintendo DSI,and Nintendo 3DS(Thought 3DS was so cutting edge back then, now if only there's a 3D Switch lite,I'll totally buy it)
Star Wars easily the top one. racer bikes with 3 gears. Dunlop trainers. Spectrum and Commodor computers. Breakdance music. The A team, Night Rider. Ghostbusters
Great thread, Rachel!
For me, it's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (70s version), Alice in Wonderland (the 90s version with Martin Short and Whoopi Goldberg), Bratz Dolls, Polly Pocket like yourself, The Simpsons like Adam, Tamagotchis, and a ton of wacky kids shows that would feature on a station in Australia called ABC Kids. That's also just off the top of my head!
For me:
Skateboards, baggy jeans, pocket chains, Keenan and Kel, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Scooby Doo, The Simpsons PlayStation 1 & 2, Blockbuster… to name a few. There are probably a tonne of others but that’s all I have first thing in the morning 😂
