Literally.
I'd like to know what brought you all to the Cove! How did you discover this place? I found out about the Cove through Adam Gary's YouTube channel. I can't recall how exactly, but I think I saw it mentioned in a bio for one of his videos, so I came to the site and saw it promoted itself to be 'the world's most extensive poetry community' and thought, 'this is exactly what I need'. The rest is history. Glad I found this place and met all of you. How about yourselves?
What brought me to the Cove???
Glad you ask,I believe I answer this before.
Been writing for seven years(bout to be eight in January) and I always thought of joining poetry community. However, because business and acting always cross my mind, poetry was an afterthought.
Around a year ago, maybe two years(memory foggy from watching all these gurus),I stumble upon Adam.
He was very knowledgeable about poetry, and as I saw this past weekend, very capable teaching poetry.
Funny enough,my poetry writings were done less and less, since passion was gone.Expression depleted.
And I just felt ready to give up poetry entirely. Thanks to personal development, self help,I lost my poetry world completely.Mainly because nobody I surround myself with were poets.Mainly Christians and Personal Development Wannabe Coaches.
No,both aren't bad.They weren't just right for me.
Guess, for first time,I finally found poets.
Not some lame poetry club from high school(and we didn't even talk about poetry,by the way.)Poets are what brought me here.I did follow Adam's videos from time to time, due to his reviews, and he announce it on YouTube.I jump ship and rest was history.
I've actually grown so much this year because of Poetry Cove.
Yes, I do prefer to not jump on every hour, however,It's awesome reading poems, listening to what poets, experience and inexperienced, have to say about their walk. Its inspiring, most of all, brings closure. Now did I wish it took me seven years to find community of poets???
And did I wish it would taken me ten years to monetize???
No,however for first time,I don't feel lonely anymore.
I feel peace,growth and adventure.
So I guess we all connected thanks to Adam's Social Media, huh?
@Shen Friebe I found it the same as you mate.
Hi Shen
I think I saw the cove on Instagram. I had been really enjoying writing poetry during lockdown and thought I could tentatively share my poems for feedback to improve and to get to know fellow poets. I had already started reciting my poetry at open mic nights and had a good reception. I've shared my poetry to a few friends and family but I thought it would be even better to get feedback from fellow poets. I've really enjoyed getting to know you and others in the last few months.
Glad to have you here Shen! I hope that it is so far living up to your expectations hehe! Only way is forward for the Cove!
Also, thanks for watching my vids hehe
