Interesting. I just posted a poem that kind of fits in this discussion As a young tween/teen, i hung out with an unknown number of kids (baby boomers) at a specific location. After a family move, I lost touch with them. A couple of years passed. On a cold, wet late winter/early spring night, I thought I'd see if anyone was around. The difference between unending activity and solitude changed my perspective.
Walking my region recently I wandered through my favorite park. It used to be a place of wonder. A small nature trail, a green house of many rooms and plants, and orchid house with fish pond, and a bird aviary. Alas all of these are now hollow shells, buildings long since emptied and all but forgotten. Nearby they have added free use BBQs, a small skate park, and outdoor table tennis table, and some new seating areas. there are nice but they lack the life we once had. Even the duck pond has been cemented over leaving just a small stream. My child hood was one of nature, now when I take my daughter there it is one of concrete and metal.
I am still struggling with this one. I am sure they are there but I became happier at 25 years.
