So I listen to a bunch of songs while drawing or writing; some pop and some obscure or lesser known artists/songs. But It always kinda bothered me when I found a beautiful song or artist but see how little views they have. On one hand it's this special song that only I and a handful of people know about and that's sorta special in it's own way but on the other hand I'd like to see my favorite artists grow and thrive(not to say they may not be happy just existing in their space on the internet. That's totally valid as well). Now I don't have an intense following or something and I'm under no delusion that me listing off some of my favorite artists will create much of a difference but hey if you think any of these guys may be up your alley then give them a listen.
A cheeky try why don't ya? A little gander maybe?
So here's a few songs:
1. Rusalka - The Mermaids Song: This song fuels my love of mermaids. Literally written so many poems just because of this song in particular. But honestly, this song feels like poetry to me like it's a good song to listen to while doing something but a lot of the time I just sit and listen to the words.
2. Heather Dale - Hawthorn Tree: If you love Arthurian legend she's got so many more songs up her long ass medieval sleeves (I don't know the exact time period these legends took place so feel free to correct me) But yah. I absolutely love her. She also did a TED talk a while back and it's a good listen. She just talks about cultivating her own niche community around her music and yah.
3. Sora - Scheherazade (Scorpion Moon): I don't know why this song screams enemies to lovers for me but I seriously feel I could change the heart of an evil sultan that kills all his brides on their wedding night. Seriously though it's an amazing song and the start gives me chills.
4. Sixpence None the Richer - Down and out of Time: Definitely less obscure than the previously mentioned songs but I don't hear many people talking about how amazing this band is so I might as well add them. Honestly I love every song in Divine Discontent but this one's by far my favorite. Not by that far tho.
5. Yu Takahashi - Hikari no Hahen: This song's to out myself as a weeb lol. I don't know how popular the artist is in the Japan but what I do know is that not enough people talk about this beautiful song and the heart wrenching manga the anime was based off. It's such a feel good song though since I don't speak Japanese it could be one of those really sad, depressing song with an upbeat melody. Guess we'll never know lol. BTW the manga and anime are called Orange.
And those are all the ones I can remember off the top of my head. If I figure out anymore I'll prolly share but yah. I love all these songs and artists and hope someone finds a song or artist they might like here.
The Streets of New York by The Wolf Tones.
Maybe some of you guys here are familiar with this song and it's just obscure to me. Either way....I love it. The story telling is beautiful. I felt like I'm in the story everytime I hear this song. Timeless
I really enjoyed these.
For some reason I remembered an old favourite of mine as a youngen, and I love it just as much today! The problem is, once I think about it... I can't stop singing it for about three/four days!
Thought I'd share if that's okay @Jay Ehros Rosing
Thanks mate. I'm always open for new music so when I'm next on my PC I'll have a listen. The headphone socket on my phone is broken and I hate listening on phone speaker.
Awesome thanks for this, I like the idea and thought behind this post! I have a train journey into London this afternoon so will give them a listen then!
