My anxiety has been a real.*cough* so-and-so *cough* and I wondered how you lovely Covers practiced self care.
To be clear: I'm not opening this discussion for medication/therapy/other professionally recommended care. I'm just talking about things we do for ourselves :)
Personally, my favourite things are using face masks (the skincare kind haha) and listening to ASMR. (My favourite ASMRtist is Gentle Whispering on youtube.)
I've had a really bad day. I've felt awful and I've cried a fair bit but I had a writing workshop tonight (the one I lovingly refer to as 'therapy') and I took a shower. I know that sounds simple but I find a shower kind of resets you. I use some of my favourite products: favourite soap and shower gel. Not to mention that the physical act of washing my face is really refreshing.
My new act of self care is reading novels. I've always loved reading but I've really loved it over the last few weeks.
My favorite thing to do for self care is take a walk and be surrounded by nature. It grounds me and give clarity. I also love taking baths as a form of self care practice
Self care: Get myself a treat(Cinnamon Roll,Dark Chocolate)
Watch a Movie(very lucky to have watching a movie since its beneficial towards my career path)
Drinking Virgil Root Beer(A brand of sodas, which also has zero sugar versions)
Calling friends(been doing alot of that recently)
Long walks to grocery stores(I just love grocery stores,my own personal happy place, outside of Poetry Cove open mics,Movie Theaters and Theatres)
Hopefully when I do get a car,I will end doing more things for self care!!!!!!
I love watching ASMR massages and face massages! I have lots of land to walk as well so I go sit on logs and write a lot.
I love face masks! I do them daily and one time I had a work meeting and had to peel the thing off because we had to turn our cameras on. LOL.
I love listening to music and zoning out. I'm not huge into watching tv, but LOVE reading. I hoard books and buy one anytime I go to the store. Not sure if this counts, but I make a foamy latte in the morning and it is the best part of my day.
I read. I don't have a self-care routine or so but I try not to be harsh on myself on days when it gets too hard. I end up writing or reading if writing is hard and it really helps.
I've also been learning Bharatnatyam, a form of Indian classical dance for about 14 years now. A little practice helps too! It's abviously not 'relaxing' but I find it very liberating. 🙂
