So, whenever I go without coffee for a day or so, I get these excruciatingly bad headaches. Like, they're crippling. I don't know how I became addicted to caffeine but I think it is safe to say I am, if this is the effect it has on my body.
I recently gave up smoking and am over 250hrs smoke free (11 days) and am yet to have any issues such as headaches etc. 2 days out of 11 I've had really strong cravings but that was it. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone else here has this, or if anyone has managed to give up, what they did to get passed the headaches?
Coffee is my one true love. My espresso machine is a lifesaver. I make my own lattes with 3 shots of espresso If I were to skip a day, I would have a headache, but have quit coffee before for a couple of years and switched to tea. I also go to Starbucks on the weekends. I would say ween yourself off slowly and start with black tea, then move to weaker tea. I'm a pretty miserable person without caffeine, but what helped me is drinking 3 liters or water a day. That should help.
Adam - Congratulations on quitting!
Sigh. I've been told that I have to give up coffee...and diet coke. Not sure how I'm going to do it, but must do so for my health. Coffee has been my one vice for many years. I drink it black and usually a couple of cups a day. So I am going to allow myself a cup or two on weekends only, and nothing on weekdays. I'm going to find a decaf tea to help fill in and hope that will do the trick.
I was actually addicted to Mountain Dew for YEARS - pretty much my whole childhood. Then, one day I realized that I felt like crap...and had been feeling like crap for way too long. I decided to cut WAY back on the soda and start drinking more water instead. Man, the physical difference when I did that was insane!
I definitely love coffee though! I wouldn't say I'm addicted to it because I can go without it but I will drink it if it's offered to me. Even so, I don't think I've ever gotten headaches/migraines from not drinking soda or coffee.
(Generally my headaches are eye strain, allergy-related, or because I used too much brain power...but the latter rarely happens lol)
I have been before.
I use to drink Starbucks Coffee when I first received my first job.
And it was Peppermint Mocha, great Coffee for the time.
Think what help eventually give up coffee, is to replace with tea.
Now sometimes store I go to doesn't have tea, since I go there early in morning and they may not have tea.
However,find tea is very natural.
So I don't find myself going for another cup of Joe,unless it's a very long workday.
Understand this may be off topic but
Unfortunately, still trying to solve Phone Addiction.
Maybe its generational thing, but still working on being addiction free.
Perhaps screen addiction is final step.
In any case, have great night, poetry cove.
Congrats on quitting!! I always have a litre of water with me throughout the day, which I personally finds helps me flush out the caffeine I consume.
