As summer is closing and getting closer to fall,I thought it would be cool to hear what's everyone favorite moments from this past season.
For me,biggest one was definitely Poetry Cove Open Mic,as I thought I wouldn't perform again.
Which is funny, because once I started going,I felt like I haven't lost a step.Which is a sign that my friends may have been right, when they said,I was born to be on stage.
Now,here are some other moments:
1. Finding a job I actually like?????(Yep,after 4 years,I found a job I like.Interestingly, not sure about U.K,where I'm at,theres this phenomenon taken place call The Great Resignation.Won't say too much about that once I heard about this,I became intrigued.
May follow suit, after I go through a hustle phase.Been scare to go through one, after both phases didn't work out.Acting and poetry. If I don't commit to follow my dream,I will forever be in regret. My dream is my blade, and I will use this to become who I set out to be.
2. May have found a new favorite actor, thank you Ryan Gosling.(If anyone hasn't seen Stay and Drive, they're missing out, they're both an acquire taste, but very enjoyable films. And i have another film i can study, thank you Ryan Gosling.)
3. Develop aspirations to be a freelance writer.(After realizing what I rather be doing,I decided to go on this path.Coaching involves me caring about humans.Tricky thing is I care alot about poets, actors and writers. So if I was to coach,it would be involving one of those three. After going back to drawing board and realize who I would rather be helping, only to believe that I don't know what to help poets, actors and writers on that comes from legitimate experience, not theory,I went with freelance writing.I have already thought about a niche, which would be in mental health world, now I have to prepare a website, full of writing samples and portfolio.I think they're both same, nevertheless.)
4. Posted again on social media.(Hell bent on not posting again but hey, encouragement happens.I've been consistent with my content schedule.Almost forgot to do one last night, but thankfully it was an acrostic, short sweet,to the point. They all been stories and have not open up Canva, due to how overwhelmed it is to learn a new skill. However, since I am learning freelance writing,I will make an effort to learn these new skills, freelance writing, using canva, and pitch for future clients.)
5. Completed two acting courses, currently on my third one.(While basic, this is a starting point.Since i won't be leading a show or anything, most likely until my 3rd or 4th year,I will mostly be training to be an actor.I will be enjoying my online courses until the day I can come in person.)
6. After taking inventory of my life, decided to work out again.(Took a life audit, and said that I hated this and that about myself.Rather than say and do nothing about it,I did do something about it and started to work out.)
7.Finally,having fun with poetry once again.(fun fact, last time I had fun was interestingly, preparing for my first LIVE open mic,I was so nervous I didn't even record my,but after performance everyone enjoyed it.And I had a fan of my work, took a picture and made a promise I will autograph the picture once I do end up being famous.Fame ain't the goal, although having influence and knowing how to use influence, wouldn't be a bad thing would it.)
Alright friends, any cool moments from summer?????
I'm not one for writing extended prose so I'll just put a few points of my cool summer moments. I live n the mediterranean part of Spain so :
1. The first Gin and Tonic in the bar terrace on those balmy June Evenings
2. The Darkness That You Feel by the Chemical Brothers. Song of my summer
3. Spending 2 weeks in the mountains with family and friends.
4. Getting a tan.
It looks like everyone has greatly enjoyed their summer! This post has definitely given me some motivation. I've recently hit a rut, won't dull the scene with the details, but with Autumn right around the corner, I see it as another opportunity to start anew.
That said, these are the items I've been proud of the most this summer season:
Started up a social media page. This has given me the gift of friendship in the form of being surrounded by like-minded individuals. It has also presented me with great opportunities to share my work as a poet and express my passion for enticing others to write.
Joining the Poetry Cove family. Just like above, I've been gifted with fellow acquaintances in the world of poetry. Thanks to the continued support from the Cover family, I've felt able to freely express my thoughts on topics that would have otherwise been sheltered. I've also met many new folks that I've grown to appreciate and respect. Not just as writers but as human beings too.
Cutting a path to the dream. I've recently begun to set everything in motion to be a writing coach. The journey has just begun, but I still feel like I've already done so much. The anxiousness is paramount, and I'm more than excited to be doing what I've always dreamed of finally: stoking the flames of poets from all wakes of life. They are in the beginning stages, never written before, or are experienced and need a new perspective.
I only went to the beach perhaps once or twice this summer, which really is a bummer, but I'm hoping to do more exploring later down the road. I spent most of my time reinventing myself and changing career paths this summer, so I haven't had as much time as I'd like to explore other parts of what makes summer great. All good things, though. I'm a huge fan of being in nature, but since I moved into the suburbs, I haven't had the chance to go wildly into the unknown. However, I occasionally go for a walk on the local city trailhead, which is quite relaxing.
Lol it’s winter here... But a highlight for this time? Absolutely the Cove😃🙌. Really, what a swell group of amazing, exceptional, talented people. I could go on but meeting all of you has been such a worthwhile experience.
Wonderful Bendy! Sounds like your Summer has been amazing!
I suppose my biggest highlight of the Summer would be... THE COVE! The final quarter of the year is approaching (October - December) which is when the Radio will now launch, it has been quite an intricate thing! But this Summer has been very special! We took over a school and made the new Poetry Cove Academy, we have a Agency attached to that now, and next week we are launching THE POETRY COVE BLOG!
In personal terms, it has been an important summer. I had a rough ride for two years straight, from my dog and nan passing, to other losses professional and personal. But I am pleased to have gotten away for a week and a bit to do some honest labour work, change my surroundings as the pandemic locked me away for so long, and we artists need a change of scenery like we need a change of clothes! Anyway, my Uncle has always been a man of guidance for me (If you've read my book A303, you'll know exactly what he's like) and I have returned a refreshed and positive man! Back to the old Adam!
All in all a rollercoaster of a summer! I am about to reveal the cover to my new collection too that will be out at the end of the year!
How was everyone else's summer!?
