Just following on from my thread last week about favourite fictional universes, lets talk about fictional characters. This thread was going to be comfort characters but lets go with favourites. And remember: favourite characters don't have to be morally good characters. Novels, TV, movies, video games. Let's go!
Some of mine:
Din Djarin (The Mandalorian)
Grogu (The Mandalorian)
Princess Leia (Star Wars)
Han Solo (Star Wars)
Professor McGonagall (Harry Potter)
Captain Holt (Brooklyn Nine Nine)
Chandler (Friends)
Troy (High School Musical - Don't judge)
Phillip (The Greatest Showman)
Mirabel (Encanto)
Penny Robinson (Lost In Space)
I think that's a good starting point!
Lestat from The Vampire Chronicles. He's so well developed with so many surprises up his frilled sleeves.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man
i just love the sacrifice and the sense of compassion Peter embodies.
Also…Arthur Morgan. I love his personality and his redemption from selfish criminal to a good man in bad circumstances
@Rachel Glass For one,Troy Bolton is an AWESOME character.
Contrary to Zac's Efron's regret, while understood,he was still awesome in that franchise.
Okay my list and POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!
Roxas from Kingdom Hearts:I remember playing KH 358/2 days and fallen in love with him.I believe it's due to our relatability of being a pawn in someone's game but also battling his best friend at the same town you spent the most time in?Most heartbreaking battle I ever experience as a gamer.Furthermore,in KH Re:Coded, when he battles Sora, and he saids something along the lines of:"I really don't have a home."😢😢😢,hit me to the core man.And in Dream Drop Distance, when he saids,It really has to be you.I really just want to give the guy a hug, because of how similar both of our personalities are.FINALLY,HE COMES BACK IN THE MOST EPIC WAY POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!Teaching me that there is such thing as a happy ending.
Riku; His growth from Kingdom Hearts to Kingdom Hearts 3D is incredible. He chose to walk on the road to dawn and doing so,he's the most balance of the characters.Especially his battle with Young Xehonort.
Aqua:Now I never play KH Birth by Sleep, will say,KH Birth By Sleep, had the gall to give sad endings to its main protagonist. And Aqua is one of those main protagonist.Birth By Sleep is the prequel and giving the 17 year story, understood direction this game ended up taking. But man,to see someone looking out for her friends only to succumb to darkness herself.
Yes,in spite all of stories convoluted nature,I enjoy this game series.
Axel and Xion:Xion in alot ways reminds me of Roxas.Except, when she realizes her fate, she knew what she had to do to fulfill her purpose.Which makes her final form difficult to beat. Not because of the difficulty, because you just don't want to end your friend.Heart broken just typing that sentence.Times I spent with this trio (Roxas,Axel, and Xion) is truly magical experience.Axel felt like the older brother I never had.He always did what he felt was right, even if that meant hurting the friendship in the process.
When Roxas leaves the organization and Axel saids:"Thats not true,I would" in response to Roxas:"No one would miss me." line, very brief yet powerful example of friends that can mean what they say and not feel force.Although, you do spend alot of time with Axel in the game, seeing that he cares about him touch me to the core. And dude,he uses chakrams!!!!!!FREAKING CHAKRAMS!!!!!!!!!Got it memorize??????
Luke Fon Fabre from Tales Of the Abyss:I LOVE this game. This game taught me alot of things. All in all,it taught me theres value in character progression.Luke isn't a likeable at first. In fact,in beginning,he is exactly distasteful to deal with. However,as the game progress,he becomes more likeable for trying to change himself for the better. And he does.In fact, from beginning to end,Luke goes from spitting apples to the ground to recognize he needed to change and actually does to saving the whole world from miasma and a replica world.
Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes:I remember renting this from Blockbuster in the late 2000s and art cover was enticing enough to rent.Man oh MAN!!!!!!!He is a jedi, pro wrestler and top assassin all in one!!!!!!!And he doesn't take things too seriously, which perhaps is why I admire this game so much.I mean dude,to recharge you literally had to shake the wii mote.I'm not exaggerating. When he shakes his beam katana, and strikes down his enemies......MAN CAN A VIDEO GAME WEAPON EVER BE THIS SATISFYING?????And he dresses like a human of culture.Rocking red leather jacket, blue jeans and gaming shirt!!!!!!
That my friends is a man of culture.
Sonic The Hedgehog: In late 2000s,Sonic games weren't the best.Darn shame, because concepts were grandiose I mean:Sonic in a King Arthur like world???Sonic traveling through galaxies with colorful creatures call wisps???Hell,Sonic 06,playing with Sonic,Shadow and Silver???Who wouldn't???Today,I want to talk about a sonic game not only I HAVE play but enjoying,Sonic Unleash.By day,he's a hedgehog dashing through the hills, egging on a Carrey a day.By night,he's a were hog slicing and dicing enemies. Why not spend time with this incarnation of Sonic?Especially when Sonic is the cooler mascot than a plumber.Along with pretty much every Sonic character of the franchise, how can you not love Sonic.
I should totally play games again but I'll keep it moving.
Cody Maverick from Surf's Up:Cody travels from the freezing arctic to Sunny Pan Gu Island???What an aspiration.
And while he doesn't win,he does learn value of friendship. If throwing trophy away so Chicken Joe can win competition isn't the GREATEST act of friendship,I don't know what is.
Ash,Dawn and Brock from Pokemon:While last GREAT trio from Pokémon, this was my FAVORITE of Pokemon trios.I love watching them all follow their own dreams.Ash being champion, beating all 8 gym battles fo and winning the leagues championship, Brock being Pokemon Breeder(its been so long being in this universe I forgot what a Pokemon breeder even is lol) and Dawn being a Pokemon coordinator, who competes in contests to win ribbons and becomes a master coordinator.Think why I follow my dreams is largely to them.I use to chastised Ash for being okay with losing the BIG ONE,however I don't think that's the point of Pokemon. The point is really to enjoy adventure there, rather than ONLY enjoying it when destination is reach.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:Why not?
They eat pizza and fight crime.
Anything else to be certify BADASS!!!!!!!
Okebe from Steins Gate:This man can time travel.A jovial fellow he is,yet serious when he needs to be.Also...........

it's art and it's iconic.
-The whole cast of Gilligan's Island (I grew up on that show. Absolutely love it :3)
-Sansa-freaking-Stark from Game of Thrones. She taught us to face anguish and emotional torment with strength, grace, and morals intact.
-Stannis Baratheon, Yara Greyjoy and Daenerys Targaryen after the infamous The Bells episode- I think her plot twist was fitting for her character and kinda made sense to me.
-George Costanza from Seinfeld.
