A curious find?
I'm related to Emily Dickenson, my 9th cousin four times removed. That's pretty cool, if you ask me.
I subscribed to Roots Tech, presented my Latter Day Saints, who control most of the genealogy resources on the internet. They have vast amounts of scanned documents.
I found other distant relations to T.S. Elliot, Mark Twain, Walt Disney, and heads of state like Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill.
You probably have these connections as well.
My relatives are humbler than these. Although on my mother's side I have only researched to early 1900's. I was on Ancestry years ago before it became to expensive. There would be distant relations in the UK on my mother's side, but I don't know who they are. My father grew up in Edinburgh but I know of these relatives
I havent deavled deep but I know I'm related to the Bishop Selwyn of whom the university is named after. Famous in New Zealand anyway. I am also direct line Erskine so if you have seen the Netflix show Reign, I am related to the housekeepers and ladies in waiting to the Scotish royal family, at least before they where let go during the up heavel of Queen Mary.
That’s fantastic! I received a comment that Taylor Swift had a connection to Dickinson also, so you might also have Swift as a connection.
I have been told that I have a connection with Justin Bieber, and Gary Lineker. I’m also told that an ancestor moved over to the States, did well for himself and somewhere along the line the town of Gary, Indiana was named after him. I haven’t done my own research into Bieber or Lineker so not sure how true that is. And I did a little research on the Gary, Indiana thing and couldn’t make a connection to the man ever having been here in the UK.
Interestingly, the surname Gary is very rare here in the UK… but there are a considerable amount of Garys in the US.
