Welcome fellow wanderers. Please, take a seat here by the fire. Maybe order a nice cup of mead.
Hi, I'm Hanz & he's Franz, and we're here to syke, you up! Or take an arrow to the knee...
This thread is for anyone who is a true blue fan of the Bethesda created game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Please feel free to share anything from moments you've had, fan fiction, memes, GIFs, YouTuber videos, etc.
This fan video is the reason why my dreams for an insane ES6 game in 4K is got my wallet begging for company.
So I thought some Breaking Bad humor was needed today.
Evening, folks. Just reviving this thread to bring to your attention this brilliant series, starring the Joevahkiin, himself. We really are in a new era of filmmaking:
I can't remember if I've told you about this @Ken LeMarchand, but I thought I'd share some pictures of the shrine I have been putting together in the last couple of months :P I've been collecting bits and bobs from the internet, as well as some 'authentic' pieces (i.e. the lavender and flowers in the jars which I picked today, actually. Thankfully there is an abundance of 'juniper' berries, and blue, red and purple flowers in my suburb). My fire salts are really underwhelming though, lol, so I might replace that bowl with some 'frost salts' instead. At least my vampire dust looks fairly realistic!
I couldn't help myself. 🤣
Does anyone else feel like this when you first enter Riften? (I love how he just walks by the guard outside the entrance door that you have to either pay a toll to or persuade them otherwise).
@Ken Merchant Oooo, I like this theory. I feel like there is an implication of a relationship there. The 'I just can't have that right now' line was a bit of a giveaway, lol.
I have a theory about Skyrim too (well, the T.E.S universe) and that is that all of the heroes you play throughout the T.E.S games are actually the same person.
I was wondering if anyone else thought the same and apparently, there is a theory out there regarding who the Dragonborn really is and where they came from. The theory details that the Dragonborn (like the other heroes you've played) is a reincarnation of an aedra/god called Shor, who is described as a 'Nordic representation of the god Lorkhan', and Lorkhan (who is also known as Shor (this ancient god stuff is confusing)) created the planet Nirn and is god of all the mortals. Don't quote me on this but I thought I read somewhere that Shor would sometimes manifest themselves on Nirn as a human and live among the mortals. So it only makes sense that Shor may have appeared in some of the T.E.S games at some point... or maybe... every one. This also explains why you always start out as a prisoner at the beginning of every single game, and why all the characters you play are so mysterious with no real backstory- it's kind of like a thread that links them all together.
It may seem a little far-fetched but after doing some internet sleuthing, I found something very interesting. Just watch this clip of the intro of Skyrim and tell me what you hear the prisoner from Rorikstead say around 3:14:
What... the. A. F. One of those things is not like the others. That cannot be a coincidence...
Have a question for my fellow Dragonborn... do you think Sibbi Black-Briar from Riften is the love child between Maven Black-Briar and Mercer Frey?
I came across this video today, it is completely and wholeheartedly accurate.
My favorite story from playing Skyrim was getting sick with Vampirism, but not being able to get to a shrine. So I fully advanced into late stage vampirism and had to continuously feed. I spent hours trying to research how to rid myself of vampirism. Turns out you can go speak to Falion in Morthal and he’ll perform a ritual to cure you. Great.
so I go to Morthal, speak to Falion, he says he needs me to fill a dark soul gem. He gives me the gem, I just have to fill it. Theres a problem. I have no idea how to fill a soul gem. More research reveals you can learn “soul trap” and cast it before killing someone to trap their soul…or you can enchant a weapon to trap souls. I opt for the former, which means I have to level up my magic.
After hours of gameplay to level up my magic and also learn the spell “Soul Trap,” I finally fill the dark soul gem. Now I just have to meet Falion again.
New problem. I’ve turned full vampire again, so I can’t enter Morthal without being attacked. I need to feed on someone to reduce the effects of vampirism. So I sneak into someone’s home and feed on them while they sleep. Eeww…
I re-enter Morthal. It’s late at night. I come to Falion’s door and it’s unlocked, so I let myself in. As soon as he sees me he yells “what are you doing here? GET OUT!” Ugh sorry dude didn’t realize you had visiting hours.
I go outside and wait 12 in-game hours. Day comes and I go back to Falion. Now he recognizes me and takes the gem. Tells me to meet him at a ritual circle in the woods outside of town and he’ll perform the ritual to cure me…but I have to get there at midnight. Great.
I wait 12 more hours and go to the circle. It’s been 24+ hours since my last feed, but Falion will be here any minute. At 11:58 I get the message on my screen “Your hunger grows…you must feed. Townsfolk will attack you on-site.”
Oh no. Oh no no No. Falion is coming. Maybe I can just sneak away before he sees me.
“YOU DARK BEAST! I’ll show you!!”
Fucking hell Falion you already knew I was a vampire please don’t attack me. He attacks me with a dagger and I have to run. I cant fight the guy…he’s my only way to become normal again. As I run, I see a new enemy pop up on the map. I turn around…it’s a mudcrab.
mudcrab starts attacking Falion…and man Falion SUCKS at fighting. I try to come help him but he stabs me multiple times because I’m still a vampire. I run away again, just hoping Falion manages to kill this mud crab. The literal lowest tier enemy in the entire realm.
i look to the top of the screen. Falion’s health bar shrinks smaller and smaller. It disappears. I run back and I see his corpse. I check his pockets and find that damned dark soul gem.
and that’s how a mudcrab cursed me to remain a vampire forever…at least until I reloaded my last save
Here's a question I'd be interested in seeing the answers to:
Has anyone ever played the game as a bandit/villain type character?
Hello, fellow traveller! I can't tell you how psyched I am for a Skyrim thread on this forum. I feel like I've snorted skooma straight out of the bottle! Honestly Ken, Hanz and Franz, fantastic idea. Let's start the discussion with the basics:
Your race (the race you play, or the race you play the most)
Your skill set/fighting class (i.e. Warrior, Mage, Thief or Jack-of-all-Trades)
Your famous 'glitch' moment in Skyrim
Your favourite city
My answers to the above are:
Imperial, all the way. It's the closest thing to my actual Mediterranean ethnicity, lol
Mage, mostly, but I do have considerable warrior skills as well (I levelled up my one-handed and two-handed skills by conjuring up swords and blades. Kinda badass, hey).
Once, my horse ran off, and when I finally found him the front half of his body (head, front two legs and half his torso) was running around, but his ass was sticking out of the ground. I had a good laugh over that.
It's gotta be Whiterun. Or Markarth purely for the
Speaking of glitches, that YT short made me lol. That is the reality of playing any Bethesda game, isn't it. Adds to the charm, though.
I played for about an hour I think. My attention span is crap!
I love the NPC videos though
If none of you have seen him before, Lyle Shnub is a hilarious GameTuber. Just came across this short today and died laughing. 🤣
